Welcoming our new Chair Lauren Zawadzki
Posted by More Music on 09 November 2023
This November not only do we welcome our new chair, Lauren Zawadzki, we mark Trustees Week celebrating the achievements of our board and of trustees across the UK, thanking them for their time, commitment and effort.
Lauren is Co-Director of Deco Publique, an award-winning creative & cultural practice based by the sea here in Morecambe. Lauren works comprehensively across the business, securing funding, developing new programmes of artistic work and engaging stakeholder groups as well as on the ground delivery, whether its supporting artists to work in residence in a factory setting, delivering co-design with young people in rural locations or bringing world-class musicians and DJs to the shores of Morecambe Bay – and everything in between.
As founder and director of award winning National Festival of Making Lauren co-leads the production of a year round programme of art and engagement in Blackburn.
Arts Council England, one of More Music’s core funders, requires trustees to embed their four Investment Principles: Inclusivity & Relevance, Ambition & Quality, Dynamism, and Environmental Responsibility in our organisational culture and working practices, and advise we follow the Charity Governance Code to achieve our purposes.
The More Music staff team look to our trustees to guide us and steer the direction of the charity. We know that joining a board is a huge commitment and is usually on top of the day job for most people. We believe trustees are motivated and inspired when they see how our day-to-day work builds confidence and spirit in individuals and communities, the heart of our mission. We hope they gain satisfaction and enjoy working with a brilliant and talented team, and know that their personal contribution to the cultural sector is essential and hugely appreciated.
