Our building

More Music is based on Devonshire Road in the heart of the West End of Morecambe.

In 2023, we have built a new fully accessible changing facility to “Changing Places” specification on the ground floor along with a new social space, kitchen facilities and additional meeting area. Please see our blog post here for full information.

We now are proud that we have an excellent community space used by the hundreds of people who visit us every week for a variety of music sessions. Please scroll down for image gallery.

The original building, called Devonshire Hall, has a fascinating history. The upstairs was originally a music hall and then in the 1930s it became a snooker hall, known locally as ‘The Dev’. The downstairs was a paint factory and home to a decorating firm before becoming shops and then finally a home for More Music in 1996.

Refurbishment of the building in 2011 that accommodated our offices, studios and a performance space for up to 220 people, we also had a refurbishment in the summer of 2016 when our roof was fixed and our facilities upgraded.

The 2023 work has been supported with funds from the Bruce Wake Charitable Trust, Walney Extension Community Fund and the Lancashire Environmental Fund. 2016 renovation was carried out with the generous support of Garfield WestonThe Rayne FoundationArts Council EnglandNational Foundation for Youth MusicLancashire Environmental FundFoyle Foundation
