Holocaust Memorial Day 2019
Join us to reflect on how lives were changed beyond recognition, and to challenge prejudice, discrimination and hatred in our own society today.
This event is run by, written by and hosted by Young People from the Lancaster district. There will be a candle-light memorial in Lancaster Remembrance Garden before an evening of speeches, poetry, music and song all written especially for the event in Lancaster Town Hall.
A new musical ensemble made up of local Young People and refugees will perform new songs that respond to the 2019 Holocaust Memorial Day theme “Torn from Home”.
In the weeks before the event More Music will work with a newly gathering group of young musicians, formed from an open call for participants and songs to arrange and plan the hosting of the event. At the same time, More Music will build on its relationships with the local refugee community and will work with them to develop and write songs and teach musical skills. The two groups will then combine and share, building between them and then performing the content for the Holocaust Memorial Day Event 2019.
